Madueke Reveals Hilarious Exchange with Chalobah After “Stealing” Goal

Chelsea’s 3-1 victory over Wolves on Monday night marked a welcome return to winning ways for the Blues, and it was a night to remember for Noni Madueke, who scored his side’s third goal. However, the goal itself was not without controversy, as Madueke appeared to “steal” the goal from teammate Trevoh Chalobah.

In the 65th minute, Chalobah’s header from a corner seemed destined to go over the line, but Madueke intervened, heading the ball into an empty net. While Chalobah may have felt aggrieved at being denied a goal on his return to the Chelsea team, Madueke has revealed that the two players shared a light-hearted exchange about the incident.

“I think I knew it was going over the line, so I said sorry to Trevoh,” Madueke said in his post-match interview. “But he still got an assist on his return. Trevoh was saying ‘no way you took that goal,’ so I told him ‘bro, you have to understand, this is what they pay me to do!'”

Madueke’s comments highlight the camaraderie and banter that exists within the Chelsea squad. Despite the initial disappointment of being denied a goal, Chalobah took the incident in stride, and the two players were able to share a laugh about it.

Madueke was also full of praise for Chalobah’s performance on the night, which marked his first appearance for Chelsea since returning from a loan spell at Crystal Palace. “Unbelievable,” Madueke said. “Leadership, character, bravery on the ball. He slotted in seamlessly, so I am delighted for him.”

Chalobah’s return to the team, along with that of Reece James, has given Chelsea a significant boost, and Madueke believes that their presence was a key factor in the team’s victory. “It is no coincidence that with players like him and Reece back in, we won the game,” Madueke said. “They are Chelsea through and through, and they helped us tonight with their leadership for sure.”

As Chelsea look to reignite their ambitions of securing a top-four finish, Monday night’s victory over Wolves was a welcome shot in the arm. With a tough test against reigning champions Manchester City looming on the horizon, the Blues will need to be at their best if they are to emerge victorious.
